So, I decided instead to read the last Paddington book in the series. The most funniest stories in this book are 'A fishy business' and 'Paddington in Training'. Both of them were hilarious. In this book we also get to hear from the author how the world was changing at that time. I believe this book was originally published in the 's. He was saying how cash would be a thing of the past and credit cards and computers will be the future. Dec 02, Angie Rhodes rated it it was amazing Shelves: owned.
As a child Paddington Bear books were some of my favourite books to read, and I decided to re read them, now as an adult, Did they have the same pleasure , they did when I was a child? Scifi etc, and I will be reading more, along with Mary Poppins, The real reason? I might have to get older, but grow up completely? Apr 25, Marlee rated it liked it. Another great collection of stories about Paddington. I didn't enjoy these quite as much as the older stories.
My children don't find the new illustrations as nice as the older ones. Some of the modern events just don't seem to fit with our ideas of traditional Paddington. It's still nice to explore these new stories though. It was still good, though.
Oct 28, Lola rated it really liked it. Its funny because he makes a card thats got a rotten oyster on it, and everyone stays away from him because its rotten.
A, SM. Sep 06, Skippy rated it liked it. Though it was a the last few books. I think I will be collecting this series. The illustrations in this book were still cute however the adventures seemed to be a bit confusing to me especially. I did not like the ending I thought that it could have been better. Jun 12, Fran rated it it was ok Shelves: books , childrens. I really can't get used to Modern Paddington. The stories used to be much simpler, and were just a matter of Paddington misunderstanding something.
The majority of the stories in this volume, felt far too convoluted and contrived for Paddington stories. I'll still carry on reading the Paddington books, but they're not what they were. I think of Paddin I really can't get used to Modern Paddington. I think of Paddington as autistic; he is unable to grasp any figures of speech, idioms, common phrases, nuances, or sarcasm and always takes what's said literally, which what gets him into his capers.
Paddington usually comes out of it oblivious, and without learning anything from it. It's only the family who seem to know how to speak to Paddington clearly and directly especially Mrs.
Paddington Races Ahead (Paddington Bear) by Michael Bond
Bird , and those Paddington stories usually end up in a giant mess because Paddington has tried something, very earnestly and with good intention, and it's all ended up going wrong e. The redeeming feature of Modern Paddington is the art by R. It's simply lovely, and Alley's Paddington is adorable. I would take him home!
